As we move into 2026, Integrative Oncology continues to go from strength to strength, evolving both here and internationally. At PROSPER Cancer CARE, we’re seeing remarkable shifts in both research, clinical practice and industry collaboration.

One of the most exciting frontiers is the microbiome. Once a fringe topic in oncology, it’s now recognised as a true game-changer in cancer care. Research shows not only the importance of the gut microbiome, but also the breast, oral and tumour microbiomes; each playing a unique role in treatment response, treatment recovery via regulation of inflammation, hormones, detoxification, immunity and more. Of particular interest is the estrobolome, the collection of gut microbes influencing hormone metabolism and oestrogen balance, a key focus in hormone-related cancers. Carla and the PROSPER team continue to integrate advanced microbiome testing and targeted nutritional strategies to support both gut and systemic health during oncology care.

Carla is also observing a rise in patients sourcing complementary and off-label pharmaceuticals such as Ivermectin, Methylene Blue, and Fenbendazole. While these can have legitimate uses under medical supervision, unsupervised use, especially of overseas or unregulated products, has led to immune suppression and increased liver enzymes on pathology in some patients seen at the PROSPER clinic, hence we encourage caution in taking any natural or pharmaceutical medication that has been self perscribed.

Carla was honoured to present at the ACNEM Integrative Cancer Therapies conference 2025 and thrilled to launch her Advanced PROSPER Practitioner Training in 2025 to further educate practitioners worldwide in safe, evidence-based integrative oncology care.

Always a popular discussion, Carla's favourite supplements of 2025? Once again, medicinal mushroom formulas for immune and cellular resilience, and a new saffron and acetyl-l-carnitine formulation that has shown wonderful benefits for mood and fatigue; two of the most common challenges faced by oncology patients.

Carla and the PROSPER Cancer CARE team, along with Peninsula Herbal Dispensary, wish all our patients and their loved ones a safe and healthy start to 2026.
